The Resurrection of the Buick Regal
There are few cars that I will remember as fondly as the Buick Regal GNX. What was initially dubbed Darth Vader’s Car, was the standout in the once very popular Buick Regal class. The Regals were discontinued in 2004 and replaced by the Buick LaCrosse–a fine car in its own right but far less menacing and villain worthy.
The Buick Regal has made a very recent comeback, and is now produced in Russelsheim, Germany. It looks like this now.
Which is fine and all but I don’t think Lord Vader would approve. The LA Times recently published an article on the Buick Regal GNX, specifically about a dealership in Signal Hill, California, that has one in pristine condition. They had estimated that the car would sell for upwards of 120,000 in auction. But, no such luck.
If you want to find out about the new Buick Regal in the states you can take a look at this fancy flash site that Buick put together. Ah, they don’t make ’em like they used too.
